Day Walk
Members to meet at the ferry terminal at Cleveland for 9.00 a.m. service. Our walk begins from the Blue Lake carpark on North Stradbroke Island. We will link together three trails to complete a 8 km circuit. From the carpark we climb gradually through coastal woodland to a sandy ridge with a lookout from which there are sweeping views of the ocean. We then walk downhill on the Dakabin Trail to Blue Lake and follow the Kaboora Trail back to the carpark. It is a beautiful walk with plentiful birdlife and the possibility of sighting the elusive golden wallaby. The trails are suitable for beginners. The Stradbroke Flyer leaves Cleveland at 9.00 a.m. Cost for return trip is $22 or $11 with concession. A short taxi ride is necessary from Dunwich to Blue Lake carpark and back again. The taxi can accommodate nine passengers, thus the cost of the taxi will be determined by the number of walkers. With a full taxi, the cost per person (return) will be $10. For those members who wish to car pool to the ferry from Ipswich, please contact Carmel 0437 643 853.
