The Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area (in Gold Coast region) covers more than 1200 hectares of wetland, eucalypt forests, salt marshes and mangroves. The area provides habitat for 274 animal species and internationally protected migratory birds. Lake Coombabah is a tidal lake that forms part of the Coomera River catchment. We will link several trails to complete a walk of no more than ten kilometres. These trails will include walks to a bird hide, a koala-spotting area, and a boardwalk over wetland.
Following our walk we will head to the beach for a swim (if desired) and lunch at a nearby cafe at Paradise Point. You will need to bring your hat, water, swimming togs (optional), morning tea and money for lunch. Meet at the usual place on the corner of South and Nicholas Sts., Ipswich, at 7.00 a.m.
