King Island is small island located in Moreton Bay close to Wellington Point. It can only be accessed at low tide via a sand bar from Wellington Point. The total distance is about 3 kilometres return. There is a variety of birdlife such as the eastern curlew and interesting fiddler crabs are found in the exposed sand flats. We will then stop for coffee or breakfast at a bakery/coffee shop at Wellington Point. After this we will proceed to the Scribbly Gum Conservation Reserve at Alexandra Hills where we will do a walk of about 4 kilometres. We will leave from the usual meeting point in Ipswich at 6.00 am to fit in with the low tide at Wellington Point. These walks should be suitable for beginners.
