This is a walk along the southern beaches of Bribie Island. It starts at Woorim Beach on the eastern side having a look at the remains of the WW2 gun placements and lookout then continue along the southern coastline to Bongaree on the western side of Bribie Island.
Due to the current tide times and the presence of Blue Bottle Jelly fish, we may not be able walk the full length of the beach especially near Red Beach towards Buckley's Hole. Time allowing- we will side trip into Buckley's Hole Bird Hide.
However we have a plan for diversion if needed. This will be around 8km - 10km and an easy social walk. Toilets and cafes are available at Woorim. We will finish with an afternoon tea break at the Bribie Island RSL club. As the drive to Bribie is about 2 hours, an early start from Ipswich will be needed. Don't forget to bring water, sunscreen, Hat, good footwear and any snacks/or lunch if required. Meet at the corner South St and Nicholas st at the park by 7am.
